Some pot? why not?

I watched this documentary like a year ago, i hadn't start with this blog yet, now i found it again and I would like to share it with you.

"The Union: The Business Behind Getting High" directed by Brett Harvey is a canadian documentary that explores the illegal growth, sale and trafficking of marijuana. Its theatrical run was limited to film festivals. The film follows host Adam Scorgie as he examines the underground market, interviewing growers, police officers, criminologists, economists, doctors, politicians and pop culture icons, revealing how the industry can function despite being a criminal enterprise. The history of marijuana and the reasons for its present prohibition are discussed, often comparing it to the prohibition of alcohol in the United States in the 1920s, suggesting that gang drug warfare and other negative aspects associated with marijuana are a result of prohibition, not the drug itself. The gangs that grow and traffic the drugs are likened to those that appeared in major U.S. cities during the Prohibition, with the intention of profiting from the sale of illegal alcohol.

1974: The Heath/Tulane Study said that permanent brain damage is one of the inevitable results of using Marijuana. The way this study was actually conducted was as follows:

- Dr. Heath was suppoused to administer monkeys 30 joints a day for one year, but what he actually did was to pump in 63 Columbian-strength joints trough a gas mask within 5 minuts over three months. They sofocated the monkeys.
"4 minutes without oxygen, brain damage may result" - St John Ambulance, First Aid Guide

Dr. Lester Grinspoon, MD
2005: Xia Zhang, University of Saskatchewan reported in the 'Journal of Clinical Investigation' suggested that use of marihuana could possibly stimulate brain cell growth.

Policy Analist, Rielle Capler: "No case of cancer being caused by cannabis used alone can be shown"

Professor Emeritus, Harvard Medical School Dr. Lester Grinspoon, MD: "There are no deaths from cannabis use anywhere. You can't find one".

Comedian, Fear Factor and UFC host, Joe Rogan: "In 10 000 years of known use of Marijuana, there's never been a death attributed to Marijuana. There's 400 000 deaths in America alone every year that are directly attributed to tobacco".

Dr. Paul Hornby, PhD
Biochemist & Human Pathologist, Dr. Paul Hornby, PhD: "I've heard that you have to smoke something like 15 000 joints in 20 minutes to get a toxic amount of delta 9-tethrahydrocannabinol, I challange anybody to do that".

British Columbia Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Perry Kendall: "Even in the animal studies where people have loaded the animals up with doses that would be hundreds of times what a human could possibly be exposed to, no animals die. The LD50 seems to be astronomical".

Professor Emeritus, Harvard Medical School Dr. Lester Grinspoon, MD: "There is no inherent psycho-pharmacological property of the drug which pushes one toward another drugs".
Norm Stamper PhD

Seattle Chief of Police 1994-2004, Norm Stamper PhD: "I drink alcohol, that's my drug of choice. It could be sad I started on milk. I mean, this is crazy, if i use Marijuana, why does that automatically make me a candidate to black-tar heroin? It's a nonsensical argument".

Comedian, Fear Factor and UFC host, Joe Rogan: "People say: "Well, you can abuse Marijuana" Well, hit, you can abuse cheeseburgers, too, you know? You don't go around closing Burger King because you can abuse something. I can take a fucking fork and jam it in my eyeballs. Does that mean forks should be illegal? You know, I can jump off a bridge. Should we outlaw bridges? Let's Nerf the world".
